Practising the "Look"
I just can't seem to get the scary look just right. I keep trying to look grumpy, but it just doesn't work!

New Friend
Right outside my favorite window I get to watch Robbie Redbreast. Mom says the same bird has been coming back 30 years in a row! He's fun to watch.

Resting After my Big Day
Thanks to everyone who stopped by to wish me a Happy Birthday. Marco sent an electronic card. I need to make some things clear....Max (the Bulldog), StrangeCat, Foxy Loxy, and Polar Bear all live here. They are not gifts. The Lemur showed up on my birthday. Can you believe this? For my birthday, I got a doggie pad to sleep on (Mom says it's because I am so big when I stretch), and doggie food and water dishes (Dad says it's because I kept tipping over the smaller dishes). Then I got a doggie alligator squeek toy (which I love) and a bean's wabbly toy (which I found before my birthday and dragged all over the house).
TK, I have this really big bag of "Science Diet" made for the big kitties (me) and it tastes so good! I guess now that I have all this doggie stuff, I can invite Khyra and Twinkie over for a party!
Marley, I finally got around to getting on the scale. I weigh 12 1/2 pounds. Is that good?

What a Wonderful Birthday!
Today I am 1 year's old. Mom invited all my local friends to help me celebrate. The best part was getting to eat Big Boy's food. It came in a big bag and didn't say "For Young Kitties" on it.
I take back what I said yesterday about the mail lady. She brought me a wonderful birthday card from my friends, Jim and Wendy. That was very nice!

Sleepy Tuesday
The mail lady's truck just went through the driveway and woke me up. It's hard to get enough sleep--birds are chirping, Mom is typing....
(Oh! Tomorrow is my big day! I've already been peeking in the birthday bags!)

Remembering Mandu, the Princess. 1992-2009
My Mom says--Mandu, the girl before me was very special. She was the runt of the litter and never got too big. When she was 3 years old, she became very ill and spent the next 13 1/2 years on a special diet. She was very shy and would hide under the bed when visitors came. She really liked to fetch a small, soft ball. Her record fetching the ball was 83 times in a row. She also liked to ride around the house in a little wagon. She would sit tall and regal, enjoying every minute of the ride. If the wagon stopped, she would tap a wheel with her paw to try to get it going again. Her special talent was to alert Mom in the middle of the night if Dad's medical equipment stopped working. She would run to where Mom was sleeping, hop up on her chest, and start massaging her neck vigorously until Mom woke up to alert Dad. (She had a bad side, however. She could swear like a sailor, if you tried to trim her toenails.)

Last Week's Trauma
Something really bad happened last week, and I am just now able to talk about it. I have (had) a very good Irish friend named Phil O'Dendron. We spent a lot of time together. I would sniff his roots and play with his fronds. He sat on a perch near the living room window, so he could enjoy the light. Well, last week, I went to check on Phil. I put my little paws on Phil's red terra cotta pot to ask how he was, and Phil lost his balance and came crashing down. I can still remember that awful moment. His pot broke into a thousand (I think) pieces, and he was loosing a lot of dirt. Mom came running, and gave me the bad news that Phil would have to go live outside. I was totaly devastated as I watched Mom pick up all the pieces, then gently put Phil in a large garbage bag for the journey outside. I watched forlornly as Mom removed the last of Phil's dirt from the floor. Mom wanted to take a picture, but I asked her, out of respect for Phil, not to do that. Mom says Phil might recuperate outside, after he recovers from a problem called "bound roots". I am hoping he can come back inside this autumn.
